For my banner I wanted something really special and handmade considering it is going to be the core focus of the site when you visit. The structure was obviously that of a fairy costume and I knew what colors I wanted, but I’m hopeless at sowing and wanted someone fabulous and talented to help me with the making of the design itself. Enter Fionnuala Bourke, Graduate of Limerick School Of Art And Design and one time contestant of Project Catwalk on Sky One. Fionnuala is a highly skilled fashion and costume designer, working with Irelands top models, perfomers and drag queens. She even specializes in customised pieces such as shoes, phone covers, photo frames and much more.
Here’s what Fionnualla had to say about my fairy fashion and her crafty creation. ‘Working with Joanne was like a match made in heaven; Joanne wanted a whimsical but striking fashion forward look to be the main feature of her website banner. I turned to the Blondes Of New York for inspiration and created a very edgy but girly fairy inspired dress with studs and bling dripping down from each shoulder to combine Joanne’s personal sense of style. ‘All in all it took about 10-15 hours to make from start to finish (I’m a fast worker), I even sprayed white fairy wings that we ordered powder pink, made a wand using matching crystals and customised fab shoes with studs and bling, spraying the heels candy pink to create a tough yet feminine feel.’
I’m over the moon with my Costume Candy and it’s something I will treasure forever; a constant memory of the start of my this journey.
