Hello cupcakes! My name is Joanne Larby and I am a Make Up Artist, Model, Stylist, and Beauty Blogger. I have worked in the beauty industry for over five years throughout which I have worked on counter for major cosmetic brands, applied make up to well known Irish Celebrities for The RTE Guide, The Sunday World and The Sun. Additionally I have built up a regular clientele of my own and featured on TV and in magazines sporting clothes for curvier girls and showcasing my own personal sense of style.
I have always loved everything girly from a very young age; from insisting on pink Christmas tree decorations at the age of three, to doing my work experience for Mac Cosmetics and John Rocha in transition year in secondary school. I always knew what I wanted to do and now my creative passion and shopping addiction finally serve their purpose. Alongside my drive and ambition an idea became a long term vision.
In 2011, I started my own blog, initially as a hobby to continually write about the things I was passionate about and share the tips and tricks I learned along my beauty journey. From make up tutorials to outfit styling, product reviews, shopping hauls and personalized posts sharing my life through pictures I became recognized as the brand The Make Up Fairy. The once simple sideline hobby soon became noticed and companies began inviting me to events, sending me products to review on a weekly basis and asking me to become an official sponsor for their brand.
I currently endorse Easilocks Hair Extensions, Karora Cosmetics Tan, and Polar White Pro Teeth Whitening, but the first major sponsor signing was for Starlit Jewellery. I love to accessorize and always add that touch of sparkle to every outfit, so when I joined forces with the costume jewellery company I was beyond excited to be representing something I adore so much and have been seen wearing for so long. In less than a year The Make Up Fairy name grew to become a brand and now the brand is becoming a business.
In January 2012 following a two page U Magazine spread featuring a Fashion Diary, I was signed to Assets Models Agencyas a curvy model. Since then I have featured on Ireland AM slots, been interviewed for U Magazine and The Sun, walked catwalk shows for Westgate Design and The Woman’s World Show held in the RDS and shot styled ensembles for The Sunday World.
In September 2012 after much consideration I made a decision to give 100% to my growing business and decided to leave my 9-5 job as a teacher and live my dream full time.
In October, I was signed by Ireland’s Leading Modeling Agency Andrea Roche and have since worked for the agency as a Model, Make Up Artist and Stylist for Irish Celebrities including Georgia Salpa. My time is now devoted to working freelance, writing daily website posts, recording YouTube Tutorials, attending regular launches and events and planning exciting ventures including the launch of my own False Lash Line ‘Fairy Flutters’.
I hope to follow in the footsteps of some of my favourite gurus and become an internet sensation sharing everything I know through various social media platforms. I would love to write a book on Make Up, Beauty, and Styling for your figure, feature in a regular TV slot and write for an editorial column in one of my most read magazines.
I have since become the Brand Ambassador for ONLY Clothing, Dr.Martins Coco Juice and Beauty Emporium, I am the official blogger for The Pavilions Shopping Centre and the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Awards, I’ve recently been made a YouTube and Stylehaul Partner and have updated my Make Up Portfolio with some well known UK celebrities. I teach one on one and group Make Up, Styling, Blogging and Social Media Classes, I’m booked for Make Up Demonstrations and Seminars in schools, colleges and clubs and I offer a Personal Shopping service. For all bookings and queries please use the Contact Me section of this site or e-mail themakeupfairypro@gmail.com. I hope you enjoy my website and come back to visit again soon.
