In the month leading up to the launch of my new website I decided to make some long term health changes to my lifestyle. I wanted to keep my diet as raw and as untouched from it’s natural form as possible and incorporate more exercise into my daily routine. I didn’t want to weigh my food and become obsessed with my caloric intake, instead eating clean and training dirty was the route I chose. As a result I thought it would be nice to include some tasty treat ideas, food logs, and fitness posts under the Decor & More section of this site. This Simple Salad is something I’ve been enjoying for lunch alot lately and it takes minimal time to prepare.
The reason why I love this salad is it covers a mirriad of healthy ingredients and it gives you a guilt free full feeling. There couldn’t be an easier or more delicious way of getting your Omega 3 than eating smoked salmon. Omega 3 has been shown in several studies to greatly reduce the risk of sudden death and abnormal heart rhythms and also protects against heart disease by lowering blood triglycerides and preventing blood clotting. Feta cheese is not only a good source of protein without the high fat content of other cheeses, it’s also a tasty choice to incorporate more calcium into your diet. Lettuce contains specific nutrients that boost the function of your brain so it is able to send messages to the rest of your body more efficiently. The final ingredient adds a real kick to the flavour of this dish and with less than 1% fat it’s a brilliant dressing to use if you’re watching your weight.
Simply chop your salmon into your desired sized chunks, cube your feta, lay on a bed of lettuce and drizzle your dressing.
